Since we are not only serious bookaholics but also love to talk about the books we read, we thought, "HEY! Let's share our opinions with everyone else!" And Joyfully Reviewed was born. We are dedicated to presenting honest reviews of the books we read. Just Joy, Melissa and some of their friends sharing opinions of the books they've read. Amelia

Hi I’m Amelia, a 45-year-old jack of all trades. A former journalist and high school English/journalism teacher who now makes her living writing short stories and doing odd jobs to pay the bills.

A voracious reader and writer, I am working on accomplishing my dreams of being able to do nothing but write for a living. I live in the Panhandle of Texas with two cats and a myriad of stray animals that know a sucker when they see one.

I took up reviewing to help improve my fiction writing skills by learning from those that do it best: published authors.

I love to read all types of mysteries and romance, especially paranormal, sci fi, futuristic and historical.

Annmarie

Annmarie is one of the world's craziest romance readers.  Known for her wild antics across the internet and at book-signings, Annmarie is a HUGE fan of the romance genre.    Annmarie spends her free time reading, eating tootsie rolls, talking to other fans about romance, and stalking her favorite authors website's Coming Soon pages.

Barb

My name is Barb and I am an avid reader (crowd say “Hi, Barb”). I am 35, Canadian, and live in perpetual servitude to my 2 cats (Daria & Pumpkin, respectively) and my best friend Viola Grace.

I live life in a whirlwind of projects, never happy unless I have 15 or 20 on the go. My work is in the health care field, trying to control the uncontrollable. Reading is a fantastic escape. Active hobbies include bellydancing, cross-stitch, and beadery (yes the last 2 are active as I do them. Have you ever gotten beads out of a carpet or thread away from 2 cats?).

My reading habits cover all genres. With hobbies taking up all the space in my apartment, ebooks are my lifeline, my drug, my addiction. And Joyfully Reviewed is my supplier. And now my pimp. Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled manuscripts!

Barb…one bad bunny!

BethAnne

I'm married, since 1984, with two daughters.  I enjoy reading Sci-Fi, Mystery, Romance, Gay Erotica...the list might be shorter if I said what Idon't like.  I do not read horror stories very well; I get so scared I can't seem to finish the book.  I'm also an avid scrapbooker and have been known to attend all day and 4-day weekend retreats to work on nothing but my scrapbooks.  I'm also a recent convert to comics and can be found most weekends in my local comic book store picking up subscriptions. I hope to one day to actually attend a Comic Con.  To support my reading and scrapbooking habits, I work full time in Information Technology as a Database Administrator & Programmer.

Cassie

I hated the first romance novel I read, but luckily I gave the genre another chance and now I'm a confirmed romance addict.  I enjoy all genres of romance, especially erotic romance.  I discovered e-books a few years ago, which opened up a whole new world of wonderful authors and books!  When not reading, I am generally pretending to do something constructive or spending time with my husband of nearly five years.

Cheryl

An avid reader, Cheryl can't remember a time she wasn't reading.  Although she's drawn to tales a little left of center, Romance is her first love.  She just can't resist a happy ending.  Cheryl likes her romance hot and maybe a touch kinky.  With the discovery of E-Books several years back, what was once a hobby, quickly became an obsession.  When she's not reading or trying to find more places to squirrel away books, she's living on the left coast and having fun with her SO and their very demanding cat.  She thinks people who refer to themselves in the third person are big FREAKS!

Christine

So, a bio… hmmm, let’s see.  I live in the frozen tundra, Wisconsin, brrrr.  I have three fantabulous kidlets… four if you count the hubby *vbg*, who is the best hubby ever.  I was a professional domestic engineer *aka stay at home mom* for twelve years until my youngest started Kindergarten this year, and now I work outside the home for just a few hours during the day while they go to school.

I’m what you’d call a Jill of Many Trades…  Master of None.  J  I love to learn… anything, it doesn’t matter what.  Give me a learning challenge and I’m in heaven.  Of course the one requirement is that it has to hold my interest for a while.  Most everything I do is self-taught because we are monetarily challenged *aka, broke, living paycheck-to-paycheck, etc., lol*.

I’ve been reading romance since the age of eleven when I went on a trip to Florida with my sister and her family.  I was bored out of my mind and she finally got sick of me asking how much longer until we got there, she threw a book into the backseat and said, “Here, read this”.  LOL I cannot recall the name of the book, but I do know it was a Harlequin Presents.  For an eleven-year-old girl in puberty you can well imagine how the story might’ve had my emotions racing, my heart pumping, and my dreams and fantasies engaged in a battle between fantasy and real life.  *bg*.  My mom and one of my sisters are avid romance readers and had boxes upon boxes of books much to my delight, so I grabbed books out of those boxes and consumed them like there was no tomorrow and never stopped since.  I finally found e-books and became instantly hooked, and now due to space limitations I prefer them over print.

Cynthia

Cynthia is in love with the written word no matter what genre. Although she remains a true and loyal romance slut. Her passion for it is almost equal to her love of white chocolate, ice cold Coca Cola, and daiquiris on a hot day. Most days she can be found putting her English degree to very good use editing and proofreading in the wilds of Canada. When she isn’t reading the latest release from favorite authors she can found buried beneath a mountain of unfinished projects and barely begun manuscripts.

Dee Valentine

Who is Dee Valentine..

I am 29 yrs old New Yorker who lives in the quiet countryside of South Carolina Mother to a precocious and energetic three year old little boy affectionately nicknamed Monster.  I started reading romance novels while in Junior High School.

Read my first erotic romance novel couple of years ago by Jaid Black, The Empress' New Clothes and that's when I discovered e-books and books that gave me all the hot sweaty sex I could handle, while still making me go 'awww how sweet' from the romance.

I started reviewing for JR about a year ago. I harassed Melissa and Joy until they gave me a chance and when I got that chance, well the rest is history. Joy is my dealer and I am a happy addict when I have a full plate of reviews to do.

Reading is my escape. Escape from the reality and stresses of being a single mother. Escape from all that is 'normal'.  Escape from my own lunacy, yes folks, I think I'm a bit touched, but hey that's one of the requirements of working for Joyfully Reviewed!!  We all have a bit of craziness which is why we get along so well.

I love a good futuristic/sci-fi story. Give me a werewolf to run me down in the forest on a full moon. Better yet give me a Viking to maurade me or a pirate to pillage and plunder me. Toss in a vampire here and there. I'll even read a contemporary if Joy asks me sweetly. Paranormals? Dark goth? Fantasy? Shifters?? YES to all!

I am most happy when I hear my baby boy augh his heart out, when I read a good book that makes my girl parts leap for joy and my heart skip a beat.
Plus my newly added responsibility as the Chat Coordinator for Joyfully Reviewed is a blast!!

What more can a girl ask for?? Ok well a sexy man to try out some of those steamy scenes would be nice..LOL but that is Dee Valentine in a few words!

Elysia

The one thing everyone knows about me is that I read. A lot. I am never without a book-or ten. Even as a child, the standard punishment of being grounded with no TV and no phone didn’t work very well, because then I would be stranded in my room – with my books. There is very little in this world that I don’t read. The written word and new worlds fascinate me. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t read for enjoyment.

I married a man that shares my addiction, and when we recently moved, the house we picked had an “extra room” that he promptly built floor to ceiling bookcases in to start to hold some of our large collection of books. My sewing room has a large bookcase in it, my office has a bookcase, his office has shelves and plastic tubs on the floor full of books and magazines.  And as our bedroom can’t fit a bookcase, it has piles of books on either side of the bed. Um, can you tell we are readers?

Erys

Erys has been reading since before she could tie her shoes. A lover of romance and happily ever afters, she prefers sexy paranormals with action and suspense. Thrills all around! A stay-at-home mom of four, she finds it easier to read ebooks because one can use a 'bookmark' and not have it removed. There are also no kids walking off with the book, leaving her hanging in the middle of a story and searching for a book in the bottomless pit of her home.

Georgia

When not reading and reviewing sizzling hot stories, Georgia sits around eating bon bons and sipping mint juleps like a true southern belle…but back in the real world, she married with two kids and supplements her reading addiction by reviewing

Gracie

Hi Everyone!

My name is Gracie and I have been reviewing for about ten months. I feel very fortunate to be a member of Joyfully Reviewed as everyone here is so wonderful.

I am just your very average everyday person. I live in Wyoming and have been married for almost nineteen years. I have five children ranging from nineteen to nine and last year I became a Grandma and have two very beautiful grandbabies. I have always been an avid reader and just last year I began reading erotic romance and I have not stopped since! I love vampires (my new obsession), werewolves, basically anything paranormal. I really just crave a good happily ever after romance with strong characters and a great storyline.

Indy

I am a woman, a mother and a sister and to round it out a nut when it comes to reading. From whips and chains to fur and fangs, if it's hot, sexy and intense I'm salivating like a kid at the candy store. I like my heroines spicy and my hero's rough and at times crude. I joined the world of "it's my opinion so deal with it" reviewing in 2005 and haven't looked back since.

On the personal front I'm an energizer honey who loves her IPod, Starbucks (when I can afford it), Linkin Park and foreign films. Clive Owens is my sexy psycho and dream lover who continues to be my muse on chilly winter nights. The Millionaire Mind and You on a Diet are just a couple of the titles that grace my overflowing bookshelves of erotica, self-improvement and urban drama.

I'm a recent convert of Dave Ramsey and hopefully in the next phase of life will finally figure out the color of my parachute, create a business that will help pad my retirement and create a legacy that my only child, spoiled brat, light of my life son can take and pass on to his children.

Want to know more? Just ask! J

Jambrea

Hello!  My name is Jambrea and I'm 32 with a wonderful husband and son.  I've lived in Indiana for most of my life.  I was in the Air Force for a couple years, but developed asthma while stationed in Nebraska.  I work as an administrative assistant for a steel fabricator and I'm the only woman in my office!  :)

I used to HATE to read.  It was so bad that I would do book reports off the back of books.  One summer my aunt gave my sister and I a box full of romance novels and there were a few duplicates in there.  My sister would read the book out loud and I would follow along in the other book.  It wasn't long before I fell in love with reading and couldn't be stopped.  It got to the point where the only thing I could be grounded from was reading!

I started out reading just romance, but as I got older I started to read anything and everything!  I'm hoping to pass that along to my son.  I think it's working!  He asks me to read to him every day.

Jess

Jo

Hello out there,

My name is Jo and I have been reading books for longer than I can even remember.  I was an easily bored child and my teenage cousins started to give me books to read so I would stay out of their way.  I am now very proud to say I’m a book addict.  No, I really don’t want to know if there is a twelve step program available for this.

I am single and live in Western Washington State.  My day job so that I can stay in books, is that of a legal professional.  My other hobbies besides reading, are jewelry and cooking.  I started reviewing in April, after answering a notice posted on an author’s site, and I’m very happy to be with Joyfully Reviewed.  I love just about all types of romances and look out for new authors besides the ones that I love already.  Having a happy ever after at the end of my books, is a requirement for me, along with a solid plot and loveable characters.  I always have a book with me everywhere I go and will pull it out to read anywhere and time I have an extra minute.

Ley

I'm a 37-year-old New Englander. I'm single and loving it—I enjoy my free time to travel whenever the the mood strikes. If I don't have a book in my hand, it must be football season. Next to reading, sports are my second greatest interest, mostly football and tennis.

I have aways been a huge reader, especially of romance stories. I do veer off now and then to a good mystery and other genres but happily-ever-after romances has aways been my biggest interest.

Lisa

Hi! I’m Lisa, a 40ish, more ‘ish than 40 year old housewife, married 30 years to an Englishman whom I only knew 3 weeks before he proposed and I smartly accepted. Three sons (yes, God does have a sense of humor) ages 24, 21 and 19.  Depending on the week I’m open to offers of trading them for more books.  We have a St. Bernard – Boo, three cats – Tiffany, Riley and Lexie and 2 parakeets never named.  All pets are female, I need as much estrogen as possible around me these days!

I have always loved books, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t have a book nearby.  My grandmother gave me a Victoria Holt book when I was eight and a love affair with romance books began.  The Wolf and the Dove, The Flame and the Flower were magic and anything by Johanna Lindsey as well in the early days.  Nowadays it’s paranormal, contemporary and erotica that you will find in one of my many stacks. I’m trying to talk my husband into getting me another bookcase (we have 7) but so far no luck.  He thinks that I will quit buying and reading if he says ‘no’.  I’m still laughing, are you?  I get jittery when I don’t get the chance to read for a day or two.  I just can’t imagine life without books. Honest!

Melissa

After failing the five step program for my book addiction, I finally gave up and decided just go with it. Now, 50,000 books later I read almost anything I can get my hands on. I'm a picky reader, who loves a happy ending and heroes who aren't cheaters. Married with three children, I love to escape into a book!

Joy and I created Joyfully Reviewed out of our love for romance books of all genres. We've had tons of fun sharing our love of reading with everyone one!

Nannette

I’m pleased to have with me Nannette, one of the wonderful reviewers of Joyfully Reviewed. Nannette, can you tell the readers how you started reviewing?
Hi, Mychael. :) I met Joy at a book signing a few years ago. We hit it off and became fast cyber friends after that. When Joy told me she was going to open a review site and asked if I would like to be a reviewer, I jumped at the chance.

What is your favorite genre, or genres, to read?
Romance. M/M, historicals, and romantic suspense are among my favorites, but I also like reading horror. I love being scared. *laughs*

How long have you been reviewing for Joyfully Reviewed?
Since they opened the doors!

What do you look for in a book, whether you’re reading for review or pleasure?
Strong storylines and characters. You need both.

Do you have a favorite type of hero? What about a favorite type of heroine?
Nothing says sexy like an alpha male! As far as heroine goes, strong and capable but sweet, too.

Lastly, do you have any hobbies or interests outside of reading and reviewing?
I have a studly husband and darling children that keep me very busy.* grins* If I'm not with them or reading, I might be working out or chatting on my laptop, which is always on.

Thank you, Nannette, for this wonderful little chat. J

Reminiscence over years past, I can’t remember a single moment when a book was not near by; whether it was romance, mystery or horror.  Romance novels have always been and will remain my first love, my addiction and my passion.  A couple of years ago, I discovered the sensual wonders of erotica and I haven’t been the same since.   I can truly say I am an ‘erotic addict’.  My favorite genres consist of paranormal, contemporary, mystery and suspense.

Besides reading, my other passion is Tae Bo.  Four days a week I spend an hour with Billy Blanks working up a sweat. LOL!  I’m single, in my 30’s, childless and currently living in Hotlanta - I mean Atlanta, GA.

Raine

Hi everyone!

Books are my escape from reality! I've always loved romance...whether it was futuristic, suspense, paranormal, fantasy etc.. About a year ago I was toolin' around on Amazon in the middle of one of those sleepless nights I have occasionally and I discovered m/m romance. Of course those were in print and I had to order and wait for them to arrive!

My first m/m book was A Bit of Rough by Laura Baumbach.  Once I got my hands on that one, I needed more!

Eventually I found Ebooks and omg, the books I've read since then...so many,so little time!

Raine

Rhys

Rhys is an avid reader, though he prefers gay fiction in any genre. When he isn't reading or writing, Rhys is researching, plotting new stories, or taking care of his kids. He's been with his partner for almost seven years now and is happily out of the closet.

Sabella

I’m a book addict and my obituary will probably read “suffocated by avalanche of books at home”.  I can remember hiding under to covers with a flashlight at night, so I could read when I was supposed to be sleeping.  To this day I will stay up until all hours to finish a book that I just can’t put down.  I will read any book that lands in my hands, but I have to say that I always prefer a good erotic romance or a paranormal adventure.  Ever since I discovered eBooks my reading addiction has become an obsession as I now have another way to get my fix!

Day to day I am a mother of one and wife to the best man in the world, as I get an unlimited budget for books!! I also work part-time as an office manager while living in the sunny Caribbean.

Talia Ricci

My name is Talia Ricci and I love to read. I discovered romance novels in middle school, starting with pilfered Barbara Cartland novels. In high school I got caught reading The Flame and The Flower by Kathleen Woodwiss in World Geography class and had to write a five page paper on Siberia. I can't tell you the capital of Siberia but I can for sure let you know exactly what I like and dislike about a book!

In real life I am a school teacher as well as a wife and mother. My husband is THE alpha male in my household and I wouldn't have him any other way. My daughter is going to college this year but I have two step children to keep me busy!

My favorite genres to read include: BDSM, shape-shifters, especially werewolves, vampires, historicals, and menages. I love finding different authors to read but a few of my favorites include: Lora Leigh, J. R. Ward, Lucy Monroe, Maggie Casper, and Lena Matthews.

As as reviewer, I consider myself extremely fortunate to be a member of the Joyfully Reviewed family.

Tanya

Oops I guess this isn't the correct place to lose my addiction but to feed it. (he he he) What makes me think I am a bookaholic well 2 things come to mind. 1 - My last vacation I worried more about what I  was going to take to read than what to wear. 2 - I stayed up past 2am one night reading "The Distressing Damsel: Book 2 of the Dragon Kin by Shelly Laurenston", thus leaving me with less than 4 hours of sleep to go to work on. But as my family would tell you this is nothing new.

Let's see I am 40. I live  in the middle of nowhere Maine with my husband, Beagle (Mandy) and cat  (Koko). No actual children just the Beagle and Cat. I am an assistant paper machine superintendent (ask me sometime why I don't eat low  calorie bread) and love to read, quilt, take photos, read, research genealogy,  read, watch Mythbusters and the Deadliest Catch on TV and about a dozen things.

I love to read romance books and enjoy sharing my thoughts on them with anyone who will listen :)
