Justus Roux has let us pry into her writing life a bit…

Tell us a little about Bind Me and what made you decide to write it.

Bind Me is another addition to my Master Series. Master Rex has been mentioned several times throughout the series I thought it was time he had his own book.

When you start writing, do you already have the story plotted out or do you let the characters dictate what will happen?

I start out with the story plotted, but when the characters start interacting with each other it changes the storyline.

What inspired you to write in your genre? Is this the genre you started writing in or have you morphed to this one?

I love romance novels. So writing in this genre was an easy decision. I like the freedom of writing in the erotic romance genre.

However, I did start out writing bedtime stories for my children, which someday I hope to have published.

Do you have a favorite character you have written?

In the Master Series my favorite character is Master Drake. He was the first character I developed for the series.

In the Barbarian of Malka series my favorite character is Demos. He has a quiet strength about him.

In my single title books I would have to say it would be the character Zero from the book titled Zero.

Do you have a character that you look back on now and don’t like?

Not really.

Do you draw inspiration for your characters from real life? Any fun stories you could share?

My characters are mostly drawn from my imagination.

Name one thing that your readers would be surprised to know about you.

I’m a pretty good poker player

Do you have a guilty pleasure?

I love those shows like; So You Think you can Dance, America’s Next Top Model and the Biggest Loser.

What do you need before you start writing? Anything that is just a must have or the creative juice don’t flow?

I can pretty much write anywhere, but I need to have a scene in my head before I start writing. If the creative juices aren’t flowing I don’t write that day.

Does music influence your writing? If so, do any of your stories have a theme song?

Music really influences my writing. All of my books have a soundtrack to them.

For example, on the Master series website I have the favorite songs of all the Master and Mistresses. These songs really shaped the characters.

If your story was optioned for a movie, who would play your characters?

I would love to have Brad Pitt or Hugh Jackman play one of my characters, especially in the paranormal or fantasy books I have written.

Where were you when you got your first contract? Who did you tell first?

I was in my office when I got the email from my first publisher. I printed it out and rushed to show my family.

How old were you when you read your first romance book?

I was probably about fourteen.

What are you currently working on, and what else is in the wings?

I have two novellas being released by Whiskey Creek Press in December titled Whips and Surrender to Me.

I’m putting the finishing touches on Masquerede which is a fantasy erotic romance novel. I have started working on the next book in the Master Series titled Lilith’s Web. And am also developing two novellas for the Master Series, one titled Rex’s Jinx and the other titled Lilith’s Romulus. These novellas are the back story of these two couples, which will enhance Blind Me and Lilith’s Web.
