The school of hard knocks gave college student Arthur MacArthur a tragic reality check when his parents died and left him with a grieving teenage sister. The situation worsened when Kate hooked up with a boyfriend who led her into drugs and alcohol, though eventually Kate cleaned up with Arthur’s help. If not for the fact that they are drowning in bills life would be looking up for the little family.
Out of the blue Arthur is offered a dream job as a research assistant for a dragon of all things. Meeting Dr. Philbert ‘Bertie’ Jones in his dragon form is disconcerting to say the least, though luckily Arthur doesn’t freak out and lands the job.
Bertie is somewhat of an enigma to Arthur, charming and sweet, not at all the typical boss. The dragon is also somewhat of a scatterbrain, yet intensely intelligent. With each day Arthur falls a little more which he knows is a complication he cannot afford. Loving a dragon could break Arthur’s heart.
Enchantment continues in the terrific Being(s) in Love series with A Boy and his Dragon. Arthur and Bertie’s romance couldn’t be more enjoyable or more fun to watch. Even with very little actual sexual contact their love story is utterly captivating. The plotline feels real and these characters come alive on the page. A Boy and his Dragon rings true for a pair of sweethearts.
