Three months ago it seemed the right idea to leave the small art workshop in St. Jerome with guest artist Darcy Wentworth. Now, as Peter Graham drives through different states to get some distance he wishes he’d listened to others. All he’s got to show for his time is a busted face, battered body, some vague memories and the $300 he stole when he ran.
Peter’s family threw him out when he told them he was gay so the only person he can think of asking for help is Ted Canedo who he met at the workshop. First searching in New Orleans it’s ironic that Peter ends up again in St. Jerome where apparently Ted hooked up with the local sheriff, Scott Dupree. Problem is Ted and Scott are out of town for the next week according to the receptionist at the police station. Wondering what to do next Peter is dumbfounded by his reaction to Deputy Billy Trosclair when they meet under less than ideal circumstances. Never has he felt such a pull from another and right now with bad memories and a banged up body it isn’t the best time.
Acting sheriff Billy can’t explain the gut wrenching lust and emotional pull he feels when he first sets eyes on Peter, yet the spark is undeniable. Billy doesn’t want to push Peter too soon though that’s all he can think about. He knows that something bad must have happened and Peter needs time to deal with it, but try telling that to his libido. For his part Peter wants Billy to respect him before they start something together. One thing is certain, if they don’t work things out soon the whole dang town will go up in flames.
Return to the exciting world of the Rougaroux Social Club and their secretive wolf pack in Bayou’s End. A well crafted, character driven tale of a young man at a crossroads. Peter can chose to continue his wanderlust, potentially dangerous habit of leaping before he looks or he can grow up and take responsibility for his life. Billy is the perfect balance for the immature Peter with a pack that appreciates him and an inner strength that fulfills him. Their sexual encounters are beyond hot at times, they heat up the pages with their sensual lovemaking. The troubles that come calling have a predicable ending, but it is their relationship that makes Bayou’s End a worthwhile read. No one can challenge the rightness of Peter and Billy becoming mates in Bayou’s End.
