In the aftermath of the Battle of Hastings, Saxon Lady Angela of Parr is going to be given, along with her lands, to a Norman Knight. The problem is that Angela has actually fallen for one of her escorts to London, Sir Damien de Anesi, and that the William the new King of England has a different plan and has betrothed her to a depraved old man.

Can Damien change the outcome of the betrothal and have Lady Angela for himself or will their budding love be lost?

Betrothed to the Enemy deals with a noblewoman’s fate after the Battle of Hastings, and the change of power in England. The Norman’s and Saxon’s didn’t mix well in those days and when one came to power the fate of the others subjects were always in question. I liked how H.C. Brown portrayed the fate of Lady Angela. As usual her lands (and she) were to be given as a prize to a loyal knight. Betrothed to the Enemy is a wonderfully handled look into mid-2nd century life and love.
