Three years ago Alpha Stellan Mihos rejected Benjamin Bastet as his mate. Though Stellan felt drawn to the younger lion shifter he didn’t have the ‘scent’ that the Alpha associated with a mate and chose another. Benji accepted the rejection and disappeared soon after.
In Potter’s Creek, about three hundred miles or so away a lone shifter lives a quiet, simple life outside the town. He sells fresh goat’s milk, cheese and eggs to the town grocery store as well as selling his paintings to a small gallery. It should be an idyllic though lonely life, but because of the town bully Benji’s life is a living hell. The abuse is becoming so bad that Benji has a permanent limp and various scars from the beatings. Telling the local law would do no good since the bully is the sheriff’s brother.
Fearing for Benji’s life the grocer takes it upon himself to call the strongest Alpha in the area to request help not knowing of Stellan’s relationship with Benji. The Alpha sends Kody, another lone lion to check things out. What Kody discovers sets something in motion that will change not only Benji’s life but Stellan and Kody’s as well. All will learn that destiny cannot be denied.
This is everything a reader could want in a tense, character driven romance with loads of emotional impact. Cat’s Pride is impossible to put down. A skillful balance between the sensitive or macho characters and the passionate interplay heats up the pages. Benji is someone to be reckoned with, a powerful strength within a meek exterior. His mates definitely have their own issues. Cat’s Pride is a terrific escape from reality.
