Chindran freedom fighter Jarrett Blake escapes torture and solitary confinement by the Earthers. In his bid to get free Jarrett’s small stolen ship becomes trapped within a gas giant. He remembers there should be moons somewhere in the cloud as he crashes and looses consciousness.
Waking Jarrett finds that he’s crash landed on an isolated moon monitoring station. Incredibly most of his injuries are superficial except for the severe damage to his legs. He owes his life to Mark Satie, a tech whose own secrets rival Jarrett’s.
Fearing Earth military recapturing him, Jarrett knows he’s got to heal fast and get out of there as soon as possible. Mark saved him, helps him heal, and their feelings become wrapped up in it all. All Jarrett knows is that when he is able to get going he wants to take Mark with him wherever he goes, no matter his past. So that they can start a future together.
Chrysalis Cage goes for heroic efforts when an inept tech saves a wanted freedom fighter. Jarrett and Mark have skeletons in their closets, ones that give each man nightmares. Only together do they keep the shadows at bay. Fans of the science fiction genre will enjoy Chrysalis Cage the most. Their romance is slight and seems a HFN ending. They do profess they’ll stay together, but it’s shaky at best. Also, while the overall story is unique and interesting neither character endears themselves to the reader. A fascinating struggle for survival but not very romantic.
