Will Brandt and Taylor McAllister were partners for the Diplomatic Security Service. Then Will took an assignment inParis, breaking up their professional partnership but not their personal one. It’s been eleven months since Will and Taylor have seen each other. Their reunion starts off with a bang whenTaylorthinks he’s spotted terrorist Yann Helloco in the airport. Bomb threats and suspected terrorist groups cause their vacation to end before it even starts.
Paris’s historic beauty is the backdrop for Dead Run’s exciting and suspenseful storyline. This well-penned tale full action took me to the city of lights. I could see and taste the sights and flavors of Will and Taylor’s time together. The danger is real and the emotions tangible. Will and Taylor have been apart long enough for their insecurities to heighten and hearts to grow fonder. Six thousand miles and eleven months are two reasons why their relationship could finally fail. The tension and unease between Will and Taylor is expected. The usual angst in their relationship is amplified due to distance and separation. The bombshell dropped on Taylor at the hospital nearly stopped my heart, and the resulting drama made putting the book down impossible. If this is the end, Dead Run would be the perfect conclusion to the Dangerous Ground series. I could never get enough of Will and Taylor, though. While the end justifies the means, I do apologize, Josh Lanyon, for sticking mental pins in my imaginary Josh voodoo doll after book three. You had it right all along, of course, and you humble me.
