Sara Ward is possibly the first scaredy cat werewolf in history.  Not that she ever figured on becoming a werewolf and the experience has scared her ever since.  However, after her sister Bathsheba is hurt and others are threatened, Sara finds the courage to present a plan that will help her escape the wolf pack that wants to claim her.  Now she just needs a mate and find the courage to make the plan happen.

Ramsey Bjorn is a were bear and he is also a member of Beau’s pack and when you consider that Beau is over the moon with Bathsheba, Ramsey agrees to play the part of Sara’s mate.  Ramsey is a man of few words, but he finds the words to let Sara know he would never, ever harm her.  Having your mate startle and jump whenever you touch her is disconcerting and makes it very hard to convince a wolf pack that you are true mates.

Sara knows in her head that Ramsey would never hurt her and she also knows that they need to appear to be wrapped around each other in lust and love so that she can avoid being a breeding mate to the entire wolf pack.  However, good intensions are put to the test when suddenly Sara and Ramsey have a wolf shadow.  Besides that it appears that their shadow has plans of his own with Beau’s cousin.  Luckily even with the threat of the wolf pack and other things, Sara and Ramsey have kept their sense of humor.  Surprises come from the left, right, front, and back at Sara and Ramsey as they pretend to be mates, only to find that the feelings are really there and the make believe just might become true love.  Before that can happen, Sara needs to get a crazy wolf alpha off her back and Ramsey needs to find a way to overcome Sara’s fear of close situations with males.

A make believe mating becomes the real thing when a werewolf and a were bear find a way to overcome the hurtles between them to find the love they were meant to have in Desperately Seeking Shapeshifter.  I knew from before that Sara’s transformation had been really nasty, however I soon found out it was even worse than I thought.  Seeing her find the courage to confront an entire wolf pack, first to save herself and then to save her mate had me cheering for her.  Ramsey was seriously the tall and silent type, but I thought he was exactly what Sara needed to overcome everything and find the happiness they both deserved.  As the story unfolded I found that Ramsey had also been forced to make decisions that had him alone and lonely.  Midnight Liasons might be the dating service that Bath and Sara own and run now for weres of every type, yet I loved that their best matches turned out to be for themselves.  I loved how with all the tension, Sara and Ramsey not only found the time for some erotic encounters but also the humor and fun that just seems to happen as life happens.  I loved how the outcome turned Sara into one kicking woman who found a way to accept her inner wolf and to claim the bear who loved her.  Desperately Seeking Shapeshifter is at turns erotic, fun, filled with ribbons of humor and a thread of suspense that makes it a page turner for lovers of the light hearted paranormal.
