Reeling from the knowledge that his mother always knew that he wasn’t crazy, that he did see otherworldly things, Rory Ellison isn’t sure which way to turn.  If not for the support of Paul MacAllister and his friends Rory would be lost.  To realize that years were lost, wasted while his mother dragged him to psychiatrists and worse, and allowed them to drug him fills him with anger and sadness.

Spending time with Paul is cathartic on so many levels.  The sex is fantastic, but more importantly Paul understands the world Rory’s always seen because the man is a Sentinel and part of a magical family who police the nonhuman.

If not for his mother’s machinations Rory might’ve learned more about his magical heritage and begun to harness his gift before he became an adult.  It looks like Rory will need to discover how to control his magic quickly.   Someone’s sending ‘nasties’ after him and the only clue is that they’re coming from somewhere up north, near his father, the man Rory hasn’t seen in years.

Multiple layers within a complex, explosive character driven storyline comes together in Emerging Magic.  The various plotlines are carefully woven in and out, converging at points before going on another twist in this fantastical tale.  Rory is dealing with almost overwhelming feelings of betrayal while also exploring his first real relationship. Low on sex, high on drama, it’s never dull, though the outcome is expected. Regardless, Emerging Magic delivers the goods.
