Rescued from an abusive life by his older brother, Leo Winthrop isn’t ready to deal with what happened though he’s trying to make an effort to settle in Sutter’s Bay. Watching his brother enjoy a loving relationship with a partner is a good start, but Leo is a long way from moving forward.
Everyone in town thinks Nolan Young’s life is easy with the Mayor as his father, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. No one realizes that Nolan is subjected to abuse from his bullying, homophobic father. Nolan fears his father would kill him if he learned that his son was gay.
When the two young men meet on a quiet, lonely beach for the first time it feels somehow right between them. Lost and damaged, it will take courage and hard work for them to open up enough to begin healing. First, however, Nolan has to escape the nightmare, alive.
Raw social issues are brought to light in the moving fourth chapter of the Sutter’s Bay series, Finding Forever. Angst ridden souls, Nolan and Leo have so much to deal with, yet together they are certainly stronger. Their journey and relationship is fascinating. but because of their youth it’s doesn’t come across as forever. Also, the abuse is an honest plot point except never looked into too deeply while the romance develops. Finding Forever brings together two sad young men who deserve a chance at love.
