Molly Ryan helped build her PR company through hard work and sweat and now is in shock as her partners perform a coup to throw her out of it. Why? Because Molly is a witch not that she ever advertised it or anything; but now humans know that there is an entire world of others that live among them and are scared and closing ranks. Molly’s partners are all humans and apparently so scared of her now that their long friendships no longer matter. When the anger comes, Molly decides to use her skills to help the others come to peaceful terms with the humans and approaches the Owen clan with her proposal.
Gage Garrity is part of Owen clan and his job is security and protection of the members of the clan. Gage is still coming to terms with the aftermath of the Magister’s rampage, one that he fought through and lived, but he doesn’t have time dwell on it with the violence ramping up so fast against witches and the rest of the others. Every day is a new challenge and Gage knows that even with all his experience, one day he might not be able to win the day. When he meets Molly, Gage is instantly attracted to her. When Molly becomes the PR face of the others to the world, the large portion of the violence is directed to her and it’s Gage’s mission to make sure she is protected no matter the cost.
Molly is determined that she can use peaceful means and understanding to bring the others and the humans back together and to show that the others never used their powers or strength against their friends and neighbors and don’t plan on doing it now. However, the extreme bigotry which flames the unsure and scared humans causes them to not be able to hear what Molly is saying. The danger and violence are getting worse against all the others and it is even more focused on Molly. During this time while Molly fights to bring peace back to the world, Gage is doing his own fighting to keep Molly safe and alive and together they are walking through the mine field of developing love. The others are getting tired of being on the receiving end of all the violence and anger of the humans and Molly takes one last chance to circumvent the horrible and deadly future she can see when the others fight back against the humans. Will the humans of the world hear her and will it be enough? Gage and Molly are going to the event together, will they still be together when they leave it or will the madness in the world finally have found a way to tear them apart forever?
In a time when the world is being torn apart with humans striking out against others, can love find a way to blossom and grow? Going Under has Gage and Molly finding this answer along with many others as their battle to show the world that others are not to be feared just because they are. After the night the Magister attacked, I knew that things would never be the same but I was surprised at first on how fast the humans turned on their friends, family and neighbors. My thoughts on Molly’s partners are not kind or nice, but as I read further in the story, I knew that she really had gotten the better ending because without them forcing her out she probably never would have met Gage. Gage’s strength and love for his clan has always been in the forefront of his personality. Now I was able to see him and Molly not only find love but battle to keep it threw the many twists and turns they have to work through. While I disliked seeing all the hate thrown at Molly and the others, I loved how it seemed to bring her and Gage together faster. I can see that the battle between the humans and others is going to get much bloodier and more death is probably going to happen. I turned the final page knowing that the love that Molly and Gage found will keep them going during this horrible fight to come. I can’t wait for the next book to see what will happen next in this world. Going Under proves that love can grow and live, even during a time when hate rules, with its strong romance discovered and deadly suspense. A wonderful addition to any paranormal library.
