Four-time gold medal Olympic swimmer Justin Pattern is a lost soul. At one time his life was a well oiled machine that suited him perfectly. But four years ago when he announced his retirement his coach, Chris Jarvis who Justin worshiped walked away and cut all ties. Coach wanted Justin to have the opportunity of starting fresh and on his own. The last thing Chris wanted was to take advantage of their close, long term relationship. He had no way of knowing that his swimmer would flounder and slowly sink into depression.
Never imagining that Justin would fall so low Chris is thrilled when he gets a phone call from the obviously despondent man. Things are far worse that Coach ever envisioned when Justin admits he’s even stopped swimming. As protégé and teacher for so many years neither crossed the line sexually even though the chemistry is there. Now, however, there’s nothing stopping them from exploring the spark between them. Justin needs structure and love. Chris is exactly the man to give the Olympian everything he could want and more.
Golden marks the emergence of a disheartened, miserable winner. Author Sean Michael peels away the layers to expose mistakes made through bad communication and well meaning misguidance that stopped love from blossoming. Justin’s painful reawakening and Chris’s regrets make for a powerful, emotionally earnest tale. There’s much more to Golden beneath the surface.
