Struggling to survive from the day his parents kicked him out for being gay Hayden is finally settling down some roots in Las Vegas and celebrating his 21st birthday by buying himself a couple of beers. The past six years have been rough, it doesn’t bear thinking of what he did to survive or to dwell on the night he was forced to kill or be killed two years ago. Since that night Hayden’s refused to allow himself to shift into his jaguar form, the memories are too painful.
Authorized by the supernatural council to pick up a stray cat shifter Gregory is dragging his feet to finish the job. He knows for a fact something is wrong within the council. Hell, his partner and mate were recently murdered and the signs point to someone high up in the chain.
Bringing in the young stray seems wrong particularly when mates are mysteriously dying as well and one direct look in Hayden’s eyes confirms Gregory’s feeling that they are mates. Bringing a killer to justice just got a whole lot more difficult because protecting Hayden is the only thing that really matters.
Author Lavinia Lewis pulls out all the stops to reveal the evil within the Shifter’s Haven series in Gregory’s Rebellion. Nonstop action interspersed with emotional situations motivates Gregory and Hayden’s attempts to bond on multiple levels. The young jaguar’s rough past is patiently soothed over by his leopard mate and this also adds to the story. Though characters crop up from previous books in this series it doesn’t take away or confuse this storyline. Drama and tension throughout, Gregory’s Rebellion sets the right tone and delivers on all points.
