The coming of the alien blood-drinkers caused humanity to spiral downwards. Human populations diminished while knowledge of technology became a thing of the past.
Teenage Angus Lavender scrambles for food to share with his younger brother Bobby and their mother. As he scrounges he discovers Dr. Often living in the nearby caves trying to figure out how to work a steam engine among other things. When the worst happens and his little family goes missing, Angus starts living with Dr. Often.
Over time Angus aids other humans by hiding them in the caves and helping them carve out a society within the cave system. They change his name to Angus Leader. Close to discovering the secret of a working engine the unimaginable happens – one of the blood-drinkers willingly surrenders to Angus. This thing says he’s called Shylar and he may hold the key to humanity’s future and the end of the alien invasion. If Angus can trust him.
Barely a spark of hope is left for man’s survival when Harnessing begins. The future is bleak but the one thing humanity always has is the strength to hang on, to keep going no matter what. Harnessing is a dark steampunk story with strong characters and an original plotline that grips and pulls the heartstrings. An unexpected twist or two also adds to the overall story and where sex is a commodity no one has time for. Harnessing is a scary, realistic human nightmare.
