Dr. H. spent most of his life as a prisoner, subject to the whims of his captors. H. is a powerful empath currently doing studies to find others with similar powers. He finds it hard to trust an outsider, which is why it is so hard for him to believe that the beautiful Ava is really as harmless as she would like to appear. No matter how hard he would like to rebuff Ava; he cannot deny the heated attraction between them.

As danger strikes, Ava finds herself opening up to more than Dr. H for it appears that Ava might have a special gift of her own. Will the good doctor help Ava or turn her away when he discovers her true identity?

Nikki Duncan’s Illicit Intuitions knocks out the competition with one heck of a blazing couple and fantastic break-neck pace. Whoa, Ava and H. are HOT and the sexual tension between these two could cause a four-alarm fire. I swear I needed a fan to cool things down after reading. Ava and H. both have their own agenda in Illicit Intuitions but when they enter each other’s lives they soon discover that some things are best done in pairs.

Ms. Duncan’s Sensory Ops series is one of my favorites. I love the premise of characters having special talents and abilities. Ms. Duncan’s heroes have flaws and weaknesses yet it is those very flaws that make them better people in the long run. H. is a hero after my own heart. His love for his sister and concern for others like him make him very endearing. I truly felt for him and wanted him to find a resolution to his problems. Ava is in transition and in need of some love therapy, only she doesn’t realize it. I could feel her overwhelming desire to fit in with her new team and successfully complete her mission. I really rooted for these two deserving characters to win in the end.

Illicit Intuitions continues a bit of the suspense story from the previous book. I recommend that the series be read in order but it’s not necessary to enjoy this story to the fullest. The plot is easy to follow and pulls you in with its compelling hero, heroine and evil villains! Ms. Duncan’s story is downright cool with its sci-fi technology and a heart-stopping couple!
