A football career cut shot by injury, Jay Xavier has all the time in the world to consider his options because his father, an honorable man, made smart investments for his son. Too bad Jay’s lover isn’t on the same page and conserving money. Millard loves nothing better than to spend Jay’s money as fast as he gets it in his hands. When they first got together things were great, but these days Jay feels as though Millard is only with him for his checkbook.

Avoiding it for as long as he can Jay tells Millard that their relationship has run its course, it’s over. To make matters more difficult Jay has met Dillon Creed. Never before believing in love at first sight Jay and Dillon feel the connection from the moment they glance at each other. This is so totally the wrong time to find the love of his life because Millard is not leaving Jay gracefully and peacefully. Their new found love is worth fighting for but the way Millard is behaving it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Jay’s Pet is a powerful testament to truly knowing those closest to you. The importance of the people closest can dictate the outcome whether positive or negative as Jay’s Pet clearly shows. My difficulty with this story stems from the main character who comes across, to me, like a split personality. Jay fumbles and stumbles telling Millard to leave, yet once Dillon is in his life Jay is a Dom? Also, Dillon takes to the sub role so quickly and so deeply it’s a wonder he functioned sexually before meeting Jay. Maybe Jay and Dillon were finally able to be their real selves and I’m just being too critical. Jay’s Pet offers three very diverse characters with mixed results.
