Faced with a difficult decision, Niko sacrifices his happiness in order to protect his mate, Zena Vuk, and his pack as pack leader. His sacrifice comes at a great price for he is doomed to be separated by the one he loves for centuries till the curse placed upon him by Tsar Uros Hrebeljanovic is broken. Rebecca Johnson is the reincarnation of Zena Vuk, Niko’s soul mate. Will Niko finally break the curse that has kept him prisoner in order to get a second chance at love?
My Serbian Wolf is a great read on a rainy day or a restless night. I particularly enjoyed Niko’s honor and selflessness. I felt that his character was greatly developed and thought that it was a brilliant idea to make Niko’s greatest virtue be the thing that hinders him the most throughout the story. I felt that Rebecca Johnson/Zena Vuk was not as fully fleshed out as her male counterpart. Certain things were told to us through dialogue, rather than explained through story background. I felt this made me unable to empathize with Rebecca and her plight of being separated from Niko. The side characters, Helen and Myra, brought apropos humor to an otherwise dark romance.
My Serbian Wolf by Charisma Knight is the first book I have read by this author. Despite my concerns about the book, I feel that Ms. Knight writes a compelling story. Most of her characters are rich and are quite engaging. If you enjoy paranormal romance, I would recommend reading this story.
