In the space of a few hours Lexi Carmichael went from her dull job stopping hackers with the National Security Agency to being confronted with two different gun-wIelding thugs. Why? Because everyone seems to be looking for her best friend and some mysterious papers that she might have sent. Lexi is totally confused since normally her biggest threat is the blind dates her mother keeps setting up for her. Lexi knows and accepts she is a dull, brainy geek with little interest in fashion but her mother still tries to set her up with men who don’t know how to handle her.
Trying to find her friend and discover what everyone else is trying to find, Lexi goes to her other best friends, Elvis and Xavier Zimmerman, twins who are genius with computers and have designed extremely sensitive electronic networks. You would think that would be enough but no, now Lexi is confronted with one sexy Italian government agent co-named Slash, who says he will help her, and a drop-dead handsome Irish man named Finn Shaughnessy who was working with the missing friend when everything went down. Lexi now has to not only find her friend and keep her safe, figure out who is behind the thugs, and work her way though feelings for two men who normally would never look twice at her but seem to be falling for Lexi. With a madcap plan, Lexi works her way from Jersey to Sweden with a trail of thugs, thieves, Finn, Slash and friends all to save the day and get to the bottom of what is going on and why.
Thugs, Guns and Hot Guys – Oh my. No One Lives Twice takes a geeky Lexi out of her normal life and puts her in the middle of an international who-dun-it. I knew I would like Lexi from the first when I discovered she was a junk food junky and slow to get her laundry done. When I then got thrown Slash, Finn and a mystery that is turning deadly, I knew this was going to be one fun book. I was not wrong. Watching as Lexi dealt with two gun-toting thugs, two beyond smart computer geniuses, one hot agent and then a toe-curling lawyer, all while trying to find and help a friend, proved to be a page turning plot. I loved the humor that was the background for everything. The beginning buds of romance Lexi was feeling with both Slash and Finn at separate times had me wondering if Lexi would be able to choose. I can’t wait until the next Lexi book so I can see just how her life has changed and who will get the upper hand in the romance department – Slash or Finn. No One Lives Twice is a humorous look at the world of secret agents and enemy plots that will become an instant favorite series.
