On his way to visit his estranged aunt before she dies, Alex Aro receives a call from his friend Bruno asking him to help social worker Nina Moro out of a bad situation. But Aro has his own problems: seeing his aunt before it’s too late while trying to avoid his mafia family at the same time. The last thing he needs is to get mixed up in someone else’s problems. When things get ugly for Nina, Aro has no choice but to help her, leading them both on a chase against time to save both of their lives.
Fans of Shannon McKenna expect action, suspense, romance, and hot sex from her novels, and One Wrong Move doesn’t disappoint. Aro is rough around the edges in and out of bed. He’s intense and gruff, and he doesn’t hold back telling Nina what he’s thinking. Nina is outwardly meek and a bit mousy, but she has an inner bad girl that she doesn’t hide with Aro. She’s much tougher than she appears. While it takes a bit for them to connect, when they do, it’s genuine. One Wrong Move has a very strong paranormal element. Mind control and psychic abilities create a thought provoking and oftentimes frightening storyline. While I typically like contemporary suspense more than paranormal, One Wrong Move is thrilling. I like that McKenna takes me to a new place with every story. One Wrong Move is fast-paced excitement followed by a dramatic, poignant ending with a lot of heat in between.
