At eighteen, Milo Santiago comes out to his family and is thrown out. He goes to live with his brother, Dante, and begins working at a restaurant to earn money for college. That’s where he meets a gorgeous, older man. He hits on the guy and is rejected, so he figures that’s the end of it.
Campbell Brooks is in town for a few days to attend the wedding of an old friend. He’s not there to meet someone, or to have a fling, but that’s just what he finds himself doing when he meets sexy Milo. Cam doesn’t want a relationship, and Milo says he’s fine with that. Feelings are the last thing either of them expects or wants.
When Cam comes back to town, will Milo go for broke, or let go of the best thing that’s ever happened to him?
Reckless Heart is a quick, hot read with a nice shot of emotion. I couldn’t help but like Milo. He’s young, sweet, sometimes a little naïve, and trying hard to be cool about his feelings. I liked Cam as well. Watching his parents’ relationship taught him to avoid commitments, and he has a very difficult time moving away from his past. Deep down, he wants to be loved just like Milo does, but he’s afraid. I really rooted for both men as they struggled through separations, doubts, and their age difference. Characters from Amanda Young’s previous Reckless books make appearances here, another thing I enjoyed a lot. Anyone who’s read the other books in the series will no doubt enjoy Reckless Heart, but it stands alone quite well. Anyone in the mood for a fast read with emotion, heat, and a simple but interesting story should pick up Reckless Heart.
