Carrie Ward is a detective in California’s elite Special Investigations Group. She has always fought hard to prove her worth in a field filled with men. Carrie has never been shy about taking risks on the job but after she takes a bullet she starts rethinking her dangerous ways. Unfortunately, there is a serial killer out there who is going to force Carrie into taking more risks with the one person she has tried to stay away from.
Detective Jase Tyler has always been a wild one. He’s known amongst his SIG co-workers as Lothario with the ladies but there’s only one woman he wants his hands on lately. Jase has a thing for Carrie, as partners he should stay away from her but after almost losing her recently he is determined to make her see him in a new light.
Carrie and Jase race against time to find a vicious killer before he claims a new victim. As things get down to the wire the heat rises and it becomes clear that Carrie and Jase can only count on each other if they want to survive the killer’s dangerous web.
Shades of Temptation is an excellent murder mystery with plenty of sexual tension to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. After reading Shades of Desire I couldn’t wait to read Carrie and Jase’s story. It was obvious that these two were harboring some intense feelings for each other and if they ever had the chance to explore them things could be explosive. I was not disappointed. Shades of Temptation throws the reader into a tense chilling sequence right at the beginning and there is absolutely no way you can put the book down until you reach the end. Carrie and Jase keep things steamy with the passionate fire between them and the mystery surrounding the killer keeps the story moving at a fast pace. The Special Investigation Group series keeps getting better and better. With the climactic ending I cannot wait to read what happens next amongst this amazing group of characters created by Virna DePaul.
