Beauty is a Gift Female Species.  Gift Females are protected and sheltered from the population and mostly males.  They were used and abused sexually by the sadistic Mercile Industries.  Most of the rescued Gift Females prefer to stick to the female Species population but Beauty is unique.  She wants to explore more than the building she lives in and she wants to do it on her own.  She also wants to explore the male population. She is intrigued by the Male Species and wants to do something about it.

Shadow is scarred by the horrible things that Mercile subjected him to.  Beauty perplexes him more than any female ever but he doesn’t want to have sex with her.  When he thinks of sex, he remembers the pain he was put through.  However, he can’t turn Beauty’s protection over to someone else when she convinces the higher-ups to allow her more freedom.

Will Shadow and Beauty discover the true meaning of love and happiness or will their adventure be cut short by a villain out for revenge?

I have to applaud Ms. Dohner because she manages to keep her New Species series fresh and fascinating.  Shadow is full of passion and excitement.  I cannot get enough of Beauty and Shadow. These two characters are possibly the most complex in the series yet.  I have been waiting to learn more about the Gift Females and I was not disappointed by Beauty. She is such a strong and beautiful woman and I love how she finds her way in this book, getting stronger as the story goes along.  Shadow does his share of growing as well. He has a lot to overcome and watching Beauty help him is so sexy. Emotion, fierce passion and hot action turn Shadow into a hit!
