In a world decimated by biochemical warfare the remaining human population struggles for basic survival. Land is broken into Territories whose leaders are generally ruthless, at the very least unyielding.
Fathered by a gang rape, twenty year old Corin knows little of love or kindness from his mother or stepfather. If not for his two younger half sisters Corin would never know the joy of a simple hug or touch. The family runs a shoddy hotel on the border of the SW Territory where Corin works from sunrise to sunset trying to keep the place running. His stepfather regularly gambles away their money and pimps Corin out to replenish their funds. The only reason he stays is to protect his sisters from the same fate he suffers.
When the girls are older Corin plans to run with them and start a new life in another Territory. But his dreams crumble the day he’s sold to none other than Markus Hammond, the leader of the entire Territory. Known to rule with an uncompromising iron fist Markus is an enigma to Corin when the young slave is punished rather than killed for trying to run. The little slave is much more than simple property as far as Markus is concerned. No matter what Corin does – Markus will have him.
A raw, gritty drama that dares to show the ugly in all its horror, Shattered Heart draws the reader into a gripping drama of depravity, ruthlessness, and in the end redemption and love. There’s a fine line between compelling and contemptible – Shattered Heart manages to balance on that fine wire to give readers a story that resonates long after the last page is finished. Beware, most definitely not for the faint of heart with some really nasty sex scenes. Shattered Heart imagines another world where fairness is a matter of strength and feelings are a commodity few can afford. Whether enthralled or put off, Shattered Heart will make you think about the true meaning of love for a good, long time.
