Chase Johnson is a Metas shifter, meaning he can change into two different animals. He doesn’t care for the luxuries of civilization and chooses life in the bush. But once a year he has to head into Whitehorse to pick up supplies for him and the rest of the loner shifters who prefer the wild. This year’s trip to Whitehorse Chase finds more than he ever expected.
Veterinarian Shelley Bradley returns to Whitehorse to open a vet practice but she’s not too excited about it. Shelley is different than most shifters for her wolf was never triggered. All of her life she has been looked down upon because she cannot change into her wolf. Her sister Caroline has made a life in Whitehorse and persuaded her to return.
An injury leads Chase into Shelley’s care and a connection between them flares to life. To find a cure for Chase, he and Shelley must enter the bush together. Will they be able to survive the journey in tact?
Silver Mine is a sexy and emotionally satisfying read. Chase and Shelley are great together. Both have felt like outcasts for different reasons and they need a lover who can truly understand them. Chase and Shelley are very hot together and Ms. Arend gives them a great story here. The romance is sassy and the plot is fierce in Silver Mine.
It was great to get to learn more about all of my favorite characters from the first book in the series, Black Gold<. Silver Mine can be read as a stand-alone but the story is definitely better having read the first book. There are a lot of laughs that occur with the secondary characters and it brought me back to the great laughs from Black Gold.
Silver Mine is an excellent addition to Vivian Arend’s Takhini Wolves series! I can’t wait to see what Ms. Arend writes for us next because there are so many worthy characters in this series.
