As one of the few Beings on the force werewolf Detective Ray Branigan and his siren partner Detective Penelope Del Mar are invariably sent to any situation that smacks of magic use. Though others outside the unit were skeptical the pair proved their skills time after time.
Unofficially attached to the force, half human, half fairy Cal Parker is somewhat of an enigma – one part flighty and one part insightful. He’s been lusting after Ray since they met a few years ago. Cal’s been rebuffed so many times he should have permanent bruises.
Someone out there is targeting criminals and the kills are getting more vicious and brutal with each death. And each murder somehow has ties to Ray. Concentrating on catching the killer with Cal flitting around isn’t helping either. Since they met Ray’s fought his own wolf, refusing to acknowledge that Cal is his mate and it’s slowly eating him up, literally and figuratively. Catch a magic laden killer and accept a flighty mate as his own. It’s all in a day’s work for a tough and gruff werewolf.
Some Kind of Magic sets the scene for a world where humans and Beings co-exist, for the most part peacefully, sometimes not so much. A gritty murder mystery is successfully blended with a massive case of miscommunication and unrequited love. The pace is fast, the characters are realistic, and the plotline never takes a breath as it twists in unexpected ways. Enjoy the ride within Some Kind of Magic.
