As one of the Faithful and chosen in childhood as their tribute, Arjin is given to one of the few remaining Ansari, a near immortal warrior. At one time the Faithful revered the Ansari but those days are long past.
In an attempt to rid their world of this particular Ansari warrior, Arjin’s also been secretly trained in a variety of killing methods. The difficulty in fulfilling his vow to the High Cleric becomes apparent the longer Arjin is in Najadira, the Ansari’s presence. Arjin is discovering it’s easier to agree to kill an unknown infidel but not someone who shows the young man a modicum of kindness and care.
A fanciful tug of war between duty and desire is at the heart of The Brush Whistler’s Song. Arjin is tasked with ridding his world of Najadira yet the enemy shows him beauty and tenderness. Because of Najadira’s interest, Arjin is allowed to blossom for the first time. The Brush Whistler’s Song is an imaginative tale of purpose gone awry through emotional bonding. A twisted original.
