Abigail Gooden and her fiancé, Lucan Knight, are brought into another case together when Abigail’s beloved Uncle Vidal asks for their help. Vidal plans to conduct a seance to contact his deceased friend, who happens to be the husband of Vidal’s soon-to-be-announced fiance, Ariana Huntingdon. However, that contact never happens because Ariana is killed right before him as the evening started. Since there were several people attending the seance, Vidal now has to figure out who killed Ariana.

Vidal knows that Abigail and Lucan are the best people to handle this investigation but he also knows they are having a romantic bump in the road at the moment. Miffed at all the men in her life, still, Abigail immediately jumps in to help her uncle.  Lucan knows that he and Abigail have things to talk about but first they have to help Vidal discover who killed Ariana – her three adult kids, the housekeeper or the butler.  Just as things get busy on this investigation and answers start to come, an old danger strikes out at Abigail.  A danger that threatens not only her future with Lucan but life as she knows it. Just as the mystery of Ariana’s death is about to be solved, the strike at Abigail has everyone jumping to keep her safe.  To make it through the night it will take all magical hands on deck.

“Who done it?” is the question when murder is committed in front of witnesses.  Abigail and Lucan figure out the answers in The Deadly Séance while working on their own romance.  I was so happy to see another case with Abigail and Lucan because I wanted to see how they were doing.  I was a bit upset when I discovered that the murder was Vidal’s love as there is no way to not fall in love with the secondary characters too.  However, I knew that Abigail and Lucan would find the answers for him.  I loved the interaction between Abigail and Lucan that showed they were still so in love and working on advancing their relationship.  Watching as they used not only their magic but also their wits, and experienced to solve another mystery had me not wanting to put the story down. Once again I loved seeing not only Abigail and Lucan but also the entire cast of secondary characters.  The undercurrents and romances that were going on had me hoping that I would be seeing more books in this world.  The Deadly Séance is loaded with suspense, humor, love, and of course, hot passion.  A definite keeper and one you will go back to again and again.

While you can read the A Gooden and Knight Mysteries as stand alones, I would suggest reading them in order as they build upon each other.
