Senior year should be golden for a teenager, yet Evan Harris can’t wait for it to be over so he can leave and make a new life somewhere far from his drunken, abusive father who blames Evan for his mother’s death.  He’s never bothered to make a friend which probably means they will forget the quiet emo as soon as graduation is over.

Star quarterback Cole Morgan has it all, money, excellent grades, and an ‘in’ at a good college thanks to his uncle.  Cole’s the most popular boy in school, but what would they think if they knew he was gay?

For years Cole secretly yearned for Evan though he never acted on his feelings.  Instead he quietly dated running back Charlie Radcliff though recently he broke things off.  A twist of fate then allows Cole the opportunity to spend time with Evan.  Treating the emo with tender care begins to open the possibilities to more with neither boy knowing that a jealous ex is becoming unstable.  Love blossoms while another heart seeks imagined vengeance.

A sentimental journey back to high school where the jock still shines and the emo leads a solitary existence in The Emo and the Jock.  The overall plotline may be somewhat stereotypical, but author N. Phillips showcases realistic, lifelike characters whose emotional struggles drive this story to a richer, more satisfying end.  The Emo and the Jock is more intense and sensitive than first expected; Cole and Evan’s story is heartfelt entertainment.
