In the country of Launioc tradition dictates the second son of the King will become the Imperator – the Supreme Commander of the Vanguard, the elite of the Launioc army. Prince Rathian inherits the title and excels as their military leader, glad that his older brother has to deal with their father the King, the diplomats, and sycophants.
The never ending war against Villious and their elite, the Queen’s Consorts yields an unexpected prize when the Consorts stab one of their own and leave him for dead on the battlefield.
Barely alive Stakel is nonetheless taken prisoner and survives. The plan is to learn of the Consorts weaknesses and secrets by force if necessary. Their prisoner however has no problem spilling everything. Stakel has no loyalty to those who took him as a child and trained him by means of cruelty and torture. Most begin to accept Stakel in their midst and plainly see that something is happening between their prisoner and their prince. With any luck the next time they face the enemy will be the last.
Sparks fly and passions rise in The Vanguard. The multi-layered plotline reveals a tense drama, palace politics, and deadly secrets. Strong characters keep the reader involved in this action packed adventure where blood, sweat, and tears fly. Prince Rathian and Stakel’s romance runs hot and heavy at the same time they are dealing with dark intrigues. The Vanguard is a good story at first glance, once you begin peeling back the layers, it’s even better.
