Boarding school bonds Blake Brooks and Tyrone Edwards through adventures, sorrows, and absentee parents. Because Tyrone chooses to follow his father footsteps with a career in international law Blake also studies law and passes his bar exams. Considering how self serving and basically lazy Blake is, well it’s amazing that he passes, but not surprising that he never tries to get a job with a law firm.
Openly gay Blake marries budding lesbian Daisy and they produce their own little princess Bitsy. His father repeatedly disinherits Blake but it never usually lasts for long. This time however, when Blake is denied the family coffers he is left floundering because at the same time Daisy announces she wants a divorce.
Homeless and penniless, at least for the moment, Blake seeks out his best friend Tyrone. Oddly enough Tyrone has a bedroom set up with Blake in mind and there’s even a full wardrobe. On top of that another spare room in Tyrone’s penthouse is being decorated for Bitsy to use when she visits her daddy.
Ever straight Tyrone goes through women like water. This time something is different when Blake moves in. Between the rooms set aside for his use and Tyrone’s behavior after he introduces Blake to a gay co-worker at a party even the usually obtuse Blake knows something’s changed. Blake is about to learn some new truths and Tyrone will discover some old history that throws a fresh light on the past. Everything is about to change for these best friends.
Enjoy an uncompromising look at the idle and not so idle rich in the book, The WASPs. Funny, irreverent Blake and his bestie the suave, enigmatic Tyrone let us peek into their sometimes less than idyllic lives. Still water does run deep for them when the past collides with the present and secrets are unearthed. By stories end we discover there’s so much more to both men than the frothy lives presented when this book began. The WASPs gets more complicated and fascinating with each chapter. A surprising treat.
