After the year of disasters, it is a struggle to even live from day to day. When it becomes apparent that Kate is in danger with her continuing to live in one of the cities her brother decides to move them to the border lands. Women are so scarce they are bought, sold, and stolen, like possessions. So while Kate is afraid to leave what she knows she also is aware that the stain is getting to her brother.

They set out to the border lands and what Kate isn’t willing to accept is that her brother hopes to find her a set of men to take care of her. Kate doesn’t want a husband much less two of them. But when she is almost stolen by black marketers and her brother injured she might just have to trust the men who are her neighbors. Though the men think she is Mike’s wife they have always been attracted to her. When they find out she is his sister they are stunned and when he tries to gift her to them they are even more stunned.

When she find out that her brother has “given” her to them (Bruce and Marcus) will she try to accept this potential match or fight it?

Kate isn’t happy to pretend that she is her brother’s wife but she knows it may be the only way to keep her safe in this new post catastrophe world. Their Border Lands Gift is a well thought out and written foray into keeping a precious woman safe. I love how Ms. Monroe is able to write Bruce and Marcus’s feeling of being attracted to Kate but at the same time having enough honor to not act on it, believing she is another’s wife. The Men of the Border Lands is an enticing series and while Their Border Lands Gift is a standalone story I highly recommend reading all of the books. I was enamored with Their Border Lands Gift and believe you will also.
