Now, years later, fate has brought Christel and Camden together again.  But Camden is no longer the fairytale prince she dreamed of.  Scarred by the war against the colonies, the widower cares for nothing but his young daughter.  And Christel isn’t exactly the innocent dreamer she once was.  She left Scotland not long after Camden wed another and she has lived and fought for America.  Yet, for all their differences, neither Camden nor Christel can forget that long ago kiss.  Is there any hope for two damaged people with such different loyalties?

Nothing is what it seems in This Perfect Kiss.  Melody Thomas has delivered a book that is jam-packed with plot threads, intrigue, and romance.  I admit, I was a little unsure if I would like This Perfect Kiss as the captivating prologue has quite a different feel from the rest of the book.  There’s a lot of set up in the first half of the novel that, while not confusing, felt like a little much.  Happily, Ms. Thomas brings everything together in the fast-paced, exciting second half of This Perfect Kiss.

At the heart of This Perfect Kiss are Christel and Camden, an American “rebel” and a British lord.  Though their loyalties and differing viewpoints strain their burgeoning relationship at times, they aren’t actually that different from one another and make a lovely pair.  It’s easy to root for them to find happiness with one another, something that will keep you invested in the story, as Ms. Thomas definitely doesn’t make the road to happily ever after a smooth one.  While there were one or two twists and turns in This Perfect Kiss that strained credulity, overall I found Christel and Camden’s romance to be a wonderfully satisfying read.
