After six years as a sergeant in the Marines, Imani Johnson is ready to begin a new chapter in her life as a civilian in the corporate business world. Now if she could find the perfect man to love then her life would be complete. Or, should she say another man besides Captain Scott Henry, whom she has secretly had a crush on for a long time.
Since the moment he laid eyes on her six years ago, Marine Captain Scott Henry has wanted Sergeant Imani Johnson more than his next breath. But because of their ranks, it is forbidden for them to have a relationship. Scott bides his time until Imani is done serving in the Marines before he makes his move. When another man tries to capture Imani’s eye, Scott impulsively comes on too strong driving Imani to thrust him away. Will Scott be able to convince Imani that his interest in her is not a simple one night-stand, but a lifelong commitment?
Overall, I found To Love a Marine to be an enjoyable read from start to finish; however, Scott’s approach towards Imani left a lot to be desired. He is arrogant to the point of being too overbearing for my taste. But because of Imani’s ferocious and sharp personality, she is able to hold her own. Imani proves to be the perfect match and I loved how she successfully manages to find ways to tame Scott’s pompous ways. As you can imagine with two strong-willed characters, the sexual tension between the couple is explosive and lustfully passionate. I was squirming in my seat with envy. Hot! Hot! Hot! I look forward to diving into more future reads from Ms. Malori.
