The people are settling on their new planet with the expected nostalgic memories of life elsewhere, a time before they were brutally over run by another humanoid species bent on mayhem and destruction. So much was lost, so many lives destroyed, but now they have a chance on a new world.

Long thought dead King Helios Dayspring is firmly back in charge with his savior and consort, Captain Griffin Hawke by his side. Discovering the king on Warlan being used as a common whore almost broke Griffin. Even now Helios does not remember a time when he was in line for the throne, he only knows of life as a sexual slave.

Between Helios and Griffin, as well as their bickering council, life is slowing becoming more manageable for their people. Still, Helios knows that he must leave their new home and attempt to join with the leaders of all the planets in their system. If they don’t find a place within the federation they will still be vulnerable and King Helios knows for a fact that their bitter enemies are still watching and looking for any weakness, any at all.

Told in first person point of view by Griffin, When I Fall is an incredibly powerful, emotional tale of the fragility of love. The doubts, hurts, and passion come to life on the pages for Helios and Griffin. Our storyteller’s painful skepticism, his distrust of others, and the love he feels for Helios is crumbling apart before the readers eyes. While any reader can understand this story, there isn’t quite enough back story for new readers to truly appreciate this tale. You are definitely better off reading these books in order. When I Fall bursts with sensuality, grief and intrigue. So much more than a pretty cover.
