Blush sensuality level: This is a sensual romance (may have explicit love scenes, but not erotic in frequency or type). Book three in the Love's Second Chance series. Wynne Carter's one-night stand with Hollywood bad boy Derek Shaw resulted in life-changing consequences in the form of her precious daughter. Years later, she isn't prepared to face him or his questions when he returns to her small town seeking answers. With his acting career on hiatus thanks to his wild past, discovering he has a daughter is reason enough for Derek to stick around. Spending time with her mom isn't too shabby either, and soon he can't keep Wynne or her long legs off his mind. Wynne knows a man like Derek is made for sin, not happily-ever-afters, but resisting him proves pretty darn impossible. For a while, it looks as if the unlikely pairing of the single mom and the heartthrob might make it after all. Until Hollywood wants its leading man back, and their new relationship threatens to fall apart forever. A Blush(r) contemporary romance from Ellora's Ca
Derek Shaw inadvertently stumbles across Wynne Carter and her daughter. He feels an immediate connection with the little girl, but he isn’t sure why. It doesn’t help that Wynne seems to know him and wants him to get the heck out of dodge immediately. Derek feels he needs to solve this mystery as Wynne isn’t acting like females normally do around him. Wynne wants nothing to do with the cheating Derek, and she doesn’t want him to discover the secret that she has been harboring since their one night stand years ago. However, Wynne can’t fight the fire that burns brighter when Derek is around, and the longing of her precious daughter for a father in her life isn’t helping her out either!
Win My Love is a cute tale that skates around some more serious issues. I found that Derek was likeable within the pages of Win My Love, but I highly doubt I would have liked him much before the story! Wynne could have tried harder to enlighten Derek, yet she truly didn’t want what he was involved in anywhere near her daughter and that seemed reasonable. I know that Derek likes to believe he would have taken responsibility years ago in Win My Love, but somehow I found that hard to believe.
There were a few things that confused me in Win My Love, but the most glaring thing was that Derek believed that no matter how screwed up he was, he was faithful to his wife, yet he later thinks he doesn’t have it in himself to remain faithful to one woman forever. Therefore, he wouldn’t be good enough for Wynne.
Wynne does help Derek to see that he isn’t worthless in Win My Love, but some other things moved way too fast for me. However, in the end of Win My Love, Derek had grown and realized what mattered most to him and jumped on that! While Wynne proved to Derek that she would be there supporting him against others.
