It had been ten years since Jax Irizarry worked as a personal bodyguard. He spent his time running his very profitable security company called Alpha Male Incorporated, which left him very little for active field duty. Nevertheless, when his human best friend, who had never asked for anything, approached him about personally protecting his adored goddaughter/singer Sahara “Coco” Chantel, Jax reluctantly agreed, knowing that his friend chose him due to him being a 400 year old vampire.
With the release date of her first album fast approaching, the last thing Sahara Chantel was worried about was a fan that got a little too excited about her onstage personality, Coco. In order to make her uncle happy, Sahara grudgingly agreed to a bodyguard; but, she refused to allow him to cause unnecessary havoc with her launching career. And, to make matters worse for her, Sahara instantly developed a strong attraction to her bodyguard, Jax, whom she had no idea was a vampire.
I found Alpha Male Incorporated to be an intriguing read from start to finish with well-developed characters and a spine-tingling suspense that had me biting my nails with nervous, exciting anticipation. The villain’s identity was a close guarded secret and while its evil intentions were very clear; author Marie Rochelle successfully managed to maintain the secrecywhich will spill over into her next installment in the Under Your Protection series. I must say that Jax was a bona fide bad boy, alpha-type male in the highest form. He expected his commands to be followed without question, so when he encountered a spitfire like Sahara who refused to readily comply with his orders; Jax didn’t know what to do with her. But, one thing Jax did learn quickly was that Sahara was his one true mate. Their courtship was a rocky one with lots of twist and turns; nevertheless, their road to finding love was wickedly naughty and sizzling hot. Whew! The shower scene alone had me wishing I was in Sahara’s shoes at that very moment -definitely a blushing-face, squirming-around-in-the-seat moment.
Readers, while Sahara and Jax received their HEA moment, the danger element is an ongoing theme that will crossover into Ms. Rochelle’s next installment within this series, so don’t be disappointed when the case of the crazed fan has not been resolved. I, for one, can’t want to get my greedy, little hands on the next one. Enjoy!
