Cassia “Cass” Maycee is back home in Resurrection after her grandmother’s death. While Cass loves having the feeling of the magic back around her, she isn’t quite sure what she is going to do now that she is home. Being half fae and half human puts Cass in an unusual position in Resurrection, because the fae are highly respected and revered since they created the pocket that Resurrection resides in. Moving into her grandmother’s home was natural for Cass, yet now it feels like something or someone is constantly watching her – a feeling that has never happened to her before.
Rick Lupone is a werewolf cop, along with his brother and some of his pack. Born and raised in Resurrection, Rick has seen many unbelievable things and yet as a cop, he keeps a very level head. When he and his brother answer a call about a fight in the subway, Rick is amazed to see two full blooded fae fighting with swords – that is pretty unheard of. Even more amazing is when one of the fae tells Rick that he has been selected to save someone and it’s someone that he already knows and it’s important for the future of everyone. Rick has no idea if he believes this until he feels the need to check in with a girl he knew in high school who is back in town.
Cass can’t believe that her high school crush is at her door and even sexier now that he has grown up. She also isn’t sure she believes that she is the person that Rick must protect until magic and assassins prove otherwise. Danger is on their heels when Rick and Cass try to figure out not only who is after her but why. Cass has been out of the pocket for many years and can’t think of any reason a full-blooded fae might be fighting for her and then send Rick to her. Passion flares to life as Rick and Cass work at discovering the answers and this time they don’t even try to ignore it. When it appears that Cass’s memories have the answer and that those memories lead to the very creation of the pocket that Resurrection lives in, both realize that things are about to get even hotter. Rick and Cass go into hiding as her memories come clearer and the unbelievable becomes the truth – a truth that both Rick and Cass will fight for to keep out of the wrong hands. Fate and destiny have always carried sway in Resurrection and now it’s up to Rick and Cass to make sure that the right fate and destiny happen to save their charges, their town and their love.
High school crushes become passionate lovers while fulfilling a destiny that will save the town they both love in Hidden Dragons. The heat between Rick and Cass flamed the minute they set eyes on each other after so many years since their first innocent crushes. I wasn’t surprised that they were hot enough to equal a dragon’s flame when they let that passion free. As I watched Cass come to terms with her past, the betrayals – even if they were lovingly done, and finally her determination to save what was put into her hands for safety, I knew that she was the perfect person for just that job. Rick had watched two of his pack find love and was a bit envious until his dream girl came home. I loved that Rick immediately accepted the job to protect Cass once he realized that was his destiny. That Rick not only protected Cass but was loving support as Cass faced her memories and heartbreak, told me right off that they had to end up together. I didn’t quite expect how the future turned out but I have also learned to expect the unexpected when I visit Resurrection. I’ve said it before and I have to say it again, I love all of Ms. Holly’s characters in her Hidden series and I’m always fulfilled when I read one of those books. Rick and Cass’s crazy path to a lifetime filled with love and dragons had me turning pages as fast as I possibly could until there were no more pages to turn. Hidden Dragons hit absolutely every element I love, hot passion, great suspense, a bit of humor to keep things level and a wonderful set of characters you would love to meet and just chat with. For those reasons and many more, I Joyfully Recommend Hidden Dragons as a must read.
