Last summer, DNA expert Mia Voss helped detective Ric Santos on a case he was working. Just when Mia thought the sparks between them might ignite, Ric backed off. When Mia gets carjacked and almost killed, Ric responds to the call, and the sparks fly again. Ric isn’t looking for a relationship, while Mia admittedly is. Ric is determined to keep his distance emotionally, but he needs Mia to trust him so he can keep her safe from a madman hell bent on getting rid of her to save himself.
Mia’s endearing vulnerability intrigued me from her first introduction in the Tracers series. With her Centerfold’s body and high IQ, she’s most men’s fantasy, but she’s Ric’s perfect match. Mia wears her heart on her sleeve for those she cares about, and she cares for Ric—even if she wishes she didn’t. Ric is brooding and sexy. He denies his feelings for Mia for most of the story, until he faces losing her. Ric and Mia fit perfectly—in and out of the bedroom—yet their relationship is tumultuous, and rife with challenges. Laura Griffin is an excellent storyteller. Her attention to detail and combination of edgy realism and excellent characterization create riveting stories. Unforgivable is a passionate, poignant romance and a suspenseful, exciting story. So far, it’s my favorite Tracers novel.
