Jory Keyes hasn’t had any contact with his man, Detective Sam Kage, in the three months that Sam has been working undercover. After not hearing from Sam for months, Jory is shocked to see him at a party. Blowing Sam’s cover is not an option. When things get dangerous, Jory might be risking his own life to save Sam’s. Things go from bad to worse when the man Sam is investigating sets his sights on Jory.
Jory is a smart guy who underestimates himself. And he’s oblivious to his own appeal. It gets him into very interesting and often dangerous situations, which is the cornerstone of the A Matter of Time series. Many of the secondary characters in Bulletproof may be insignificant to Jory personally, but they’re integral to telling his tale. The main characters help tell his story as well. Each one brings even more depth to an already complex plot. Bulletproof has excellent characterization and a romance with incredible romantic intensity and sizzling sex. Sam’s stoic possessiveness and Jory’s devotion to Sam are endearing. Jory is charming and sexy. He’s the embodiment of pheromones. He’s like enchanted chocolate that’s impossible to resist. Chocolate covered Jory. Sam has a cool exterior, but he melts like butter for Jory’s love and affection. I got goose bumps at the end of Bulletproof, and I swear to God, I cried because it’s an amazingly perfect ending for the story. Mary Calmes is an incredibly talented writer whose stories are so well written it’s easy to get lost in them. It’s a privilege to be able to revisit Mary Calmes characters, especially ones as dynamic as Sam and Jory. Bulletproof is exactly what I hoped it would be. It’s the perfect ending and an incredible series.
