Colt Jackson discovered his family legacy the hard way – by almost dying from a paranormal creature of the night known as Darkin. That day changed how Colt lived his life and viewed those around him. As far as Colt is concerned the only good Darkin is a dead one. That has made him a very good hunter and one that most Darkins have on their most wanted list. Colt knows that civilization will crease if those in hell can have access to a way out. He is on the hunt to find a way to stop it and wouldn’t you know it – he is going to have to get a Darkin to help him.
Lily Arliss is a succubus demon now, but she was once a normal human and really wants to be that way again. Giving her soul up to save a loved one, Lily has come to discover there are many types of hell. When Lily is sent on a mission to get close to Colt, to take his soul and to discover what he is looking for, Lily agrees to help, but she has a mission of her own. The biggest worry Lily has is if she can get Colt to work with her before he kills her.
Colt can’t believe how strongly he is attracted to Lily. At first he believes the lust must be from her talents and yet he agrees to a partnership with Lily – a cautious one. However, as their adventures go on, the attraction between Lily and Colt only gets stronger. Their hunt for a part of Colt’s family legacy makes them both face fears with the help of each other. A final battle is brewing with Colt and Lily on one side and the demon that has Lily’s soul on the other. When the dust settles will Colt and Lily survive to discover the love that is just at their fingertips?
The Wild West comes alive when a hunter and a demon find passion. The Hunter brings Lily and Colt together in a way neither would have expected. Right off I have to say I loved this world and the Jackson brothers. I wanted to give Colt a hug when he learned about what his family was. Lily also had me when I learned exactly why she sold her soul – and I probably would have done the same thing for that reason. I did not want Colt and Lily’s adventures to end and yet I loved how it turned out for them. Steampunk has been a long time favorite of mine and I have to say that Ms. Meyers has a wonderful grip on just what that world is. I can’t wait until I can see what adventures Colt’s brothers come to and just how their ultimate hunt ends. The Hunter is steampunk at its best with adventures, mechanical wonders and of course a hot and passionate romance. Saying all that, of course I have to Joyfully Recommend it. If you have not tried steampunk yet, The Hunter would be a great way to begin your journey in to this unique world.
