Cat Crawford, our beloved night huntress, is back in action with her sexy vampire husband Bones.  Since becoming a full-fledged vampire Cat reckons she is more of a freak than even she thought possible.  Cat can only get her nourishment from other vampires.  There’s a bit of a problem with that, she’s absorbing the powers of the vampires she drinks from.  These new abilities threaten her sanity as well as the balance of the supernatural society.

Masterless vampires are going missing and Cat and Bones are called in to help discover what is happening to all these vampires.  What they find is more disturbing than they could possibly imagine.  It seems that their nemesis Apollyon may be gearing up for a war between the ghouls and vampires and Cat is destined to play an integral role in the conflict.

Cat and Bones must seek the help of the ghoul queen but her help always comes with a price.  Will the price be too high this time?  Can Cat harness her newfound abilities to help her fight the war or will they be a hindrance?  Cat and Bones will rush against the clock to find Apollyon and attempt to conquer this enemy once and for all.  Every war has its casualties let’s pray Cat and Bones stop Apollyon before they lose someone they love.

The famous dynamic undead duo Bones and Cat are back better than ever in This Side of the Grave.  I absolutely love Bones and Cat.  They are definitely one of my favorite paranormal couples.  They have something that simply cannot be duplicated.  Jeaniene Frost is the queen of witty, naughty, fun dialog.  Cat and Bones each have some hysterical one-liners that left me laughing out loud.

This Side of the Grave brings back several characters that we haven’t seen in quite awhile.  It was almost like a reunion of sorts and so exciting to see some of my old favorites back in action.  They also brought with them several shocking revelations that held severe ramifications for Cat.  Ms. Frost has the ability to create characters that intrigue you and leaving you wanting more of them, so it was a definite plus to get to hang out with some favorites again in This Side of the Grave.

Ms. Frost never fails to create an original plot driven story.  This is the fifth book of the series and she still manages to drop our favorite characters into a life or death situation and keep it fresh and thrilling.  For the majority of This Side of the Grave you are on the edge of your seat awaiting the heart stopping finish you know is coming—but you don’t want it to come too soon!  This Side of the Grave does not disappoint there is plenty of action throughout the book and it all leads up to the powerful finish.  I believe one of the things I love about this series is its ability to get me emotionally involved.  I care about the characters, whether its Cat and Bones, or secondary characters I want to know what is going to happen with them and most of all I want them to be happy.  Unfortunately, we don’t always get what we want but the love and loss are what make this series a winner.

The drama and action are amped up in This Side of the Grave.  This Side of the Grave is an exhilarating fast-paced adventure guaranteed to leave you quaking in your boots with excitement and begging for more of Cat and Bones!
