A routine investigation for Detectives Kurt O’Donnell and Ben Kaminski change the course of their future when a bomb kills one and leaves the other badly injured.

Always respecting Ben’s privacy even though they’re partners, Kurt is left speechless when he realizes Ben’s lover is a man, Davy Broussard.  Kurt feels obligated to check on Davy once he’s well and mobile, yet deeply disturbed when he discovers the man has fallen into a very deep depression.  The detective also becomes more and more furious with his dead partner as he figures out the lengths Ben went to too keep Davy a secret.

Over time Kurt and Davy develop a solid friendship never knowing that it is becoming something much stronger and more lasting.  After all, Kurt is straight or is he?

Burn skillfully takes readers on a journey of discovery and insight where Kurt stumbles and matures to eventually become the fulfilled man he’s meant to be.  A tasteful blend of friendship and romance, the characters come to life on the page.  The plotline is well laid out, reactions aren’t forced or contrived, allowed to blossom gently or awkwardly depending on the situation.  Cop Out is a powerful story of awakening.  I Joyfully recommend Cop Out.
