Alexander “Bunny” Bunsun is on the way to Pennsylvania, from his home in Oregon to check on his little cousin (Chloe) who seems to be acting strangely. He plans to make this trip a quick one, but at the same time he feels something pulling him to Pennsylvania. So off he goes on his Harley with his Cousin Ryan to find out what is up with Chloe.
What Bunny never expects is to find his mate. Or that when he does he will be instantly attracted to her and never want to let her go. So even though she is a wolf with lime green hair, and has been deemed “Outcast” Bunny is not deterred. But, he suddenly is trying to convince Tabby that they are mates and keeping her safe from the threats that are being made against him. Then his young Cousin Chloe is brutally attacked and left for dead. Not what a yoga practicing, laid-back bear is used to.
Tabby, yes a wolf named Tabby, has finally found a place that feels like home. The little town of Halle seems to be turning into a home for her, after a long time living wild. Being “Outcast” means she is fair game for all other wolves and she fears that she will be abused or asked to leave Halle. She doesn’t realize that not only are her roommates (who are also friends and co-workers) part of her family now, but she has more supporters in town that she expects.
A bear named Bunny, and a wolf named Tabby, that alone has to make you chuckle. But you won’t find this the only thing to make you laugh in Bear Necessities. Don’t get me wrong there is a lot of danger, intrigue and suspense in Bear Necessities but with the lime green haired she-wolf and the bear named Bunny, it takes it to a new level. I love how Ms. Bell has set the scene so well that I feel like I am there watching the characters. This alone would have made me think about recommending the story to others. Add to that fun characters (with their serious sides) and you have a winning combination. I for one cannot wait for the next book in the Halle Shifter series. I Joyfully Recommend Bear Necessities. It will have you laughing from the start, and cheering for Tabby and Bunny before the end of the book.
