The lifespan of a killer isn’t very long unless said killer is incredibly good and extremely thorough while on a job.  Gage Tynan considers his skills to be superb and until now he’s never failed.  For some reason everything went wrong this time.

Other than his pet cat Precious, it’s a fairly lonely existence Noah Anderson leads since his mother died.  He’s got a one bedroom apartment, a large feline, and a job as a copy editor, that’s it.  Noah realizes that he sometimes makes others uncomfortable with his regimented OCD habits, but he can’t help it.

A botched job sends Gage on the run and Noah in the right place to give him a lift followed by the strangest conversation Gage thinks he’s ever engaged in before taking off on foot once more.  Noah enjoyed their talk but knows he’s better off alone, yet he can’t help being happy when Gage turns up on his doorstep.  Gage, on the other hand, can’t for the life of him understand what it is about the little OCD oddball that draws him.  By all rights Gage should eliminate Noah as collateral damage.  That’s exactly what his agency would expect him to do, immediately.  Murder, however, is the last thing on Gage’s mind as far as Noah’s hot little body is concerned.

Words come to mind such as quirky, screwy, and wacky when trying to describe The Cat’s Meow, but the bottom line: I couldn’t put it down!  Gage is a stone cold killer who’s thorough and methodical, lacking passion and the capacity to love.  As for Noah, he’s the poster boy for OCD ads and a real sweetheart to boot.  Once they meet however, everything changes and the story takes a completely new direction that is wholly unique.  The Cat’s Meow runs the emotional gamut from heart pounding action to plot twists and lastly passionate loving.  While there are some small holes in this plotline it doesn’t take away from the fact that The Cat’s Meow is an original and shouldn’t be overlooked.  I Joyfully recommend The Cat’s Meow.  I can’t wait to read what happens next in the Assassin’s Pride series.
