The last year has been hell for Genevieve McInnes. She was taken by a madman and abused at his every whim. She thinks things may be looking up when her captor is killed by a rival clan. She may finally be free from the daily torture. Perhaps she can live out her days as an abbess. She knows her plans are about to change as she takes one look at the man claiming the castle.
Bowen Montgomery is set on avenging his sister-in-law’s torment at the hands of the McHugh’s. However, it seems that Patrick McHugh has fled and left his people to fend for themselves. As he claims the McHugh castle as a Montgomery holding, he attempts to turn it into a safe place but there are still nefarious dealings going on and he knows not who he can trust. Yet, he cannot deny the extreme pull he feels towards the woman they all call whore. Bowen is determined to get to the truth behind the McHugh’s behavior even if it kills him. Will he find love in the process?
Maya Bank’s Highlander Most Wanted sizzles with chemistry and pops with an exciting plot line! Genevieve is an amazing heroine. I have to give it to Ms. Banks she knows how to write smart and savvy women. I always know going into one of Banks books that the women will be tough and the men will be heroic. Highlander Most Wanted is no different. Genevieve has been through a terrible amount of pain but it has made her stronger and once she makes up her mind nothing will stop her—or in the past nothing would. Now she is confused by the desire that Bowen makes her feel.
Bowen Montgomery is a strong hero teeming with spicy pheromones. He wants to do right by his kin and the woman that frustrates and attracts him like no other. Everyone is telling him how bad Genevieve is but he can’t fight the need to protect her. There are so many great moments between these two. They made me laugh and curse many times throughout the story.
Banks is making a name for herself in the historical genre. Highlander Most Wanted is just another example of how Ms. Banks’ pen turns out diamonds.
