Kia Graceling knows she is having a bad day, but doesn’t know how bad until she steps into one of her worst nightmares. She lives in a bad section of town but her sense of duty won’t let the cries of anguish go unanswered, so she heads into an abandoned warehouse to step onto what looks like the set of a horror movie. She does what she needs and in the end winds up being rescued by the man she set out to save, and plunged into a world of paranormal beings she never imagined.
Mencheres is a Master Vampire and old enough that he was convinced that he had seen it all, that was until the fearless and beautiful human steps in to try and save him from a band of ghouls. While he is drawn to her he also knows that if she is in his life than she will be a target and will be used to hurt him. So he does what he must and distances himself. But when circumstances bring them together and Mencheres must decide how much she really means to him, the world might not be ready for the consequences.
I have long read paranormal romances and have found many series are starting to look the same. But, not so with the Night Huntress World by Jeaniene Frost, or in particular Eternal Kiss of Darkness. I was riveted to my iPod® to hear what would happen next from quite early on, while listening to Eternal Kiss of Darkness and now I am hoping there will be more stories in this series, and soon. I think Ms. Frost brings a new, fresh look into a genre that I didn’t think would happen. I love how she has tied the race to Cain and even the early Egyptians. I am intrigued by her twist to the vampire world and am looking forward to the next installment. In the meantime the highest recommendation I can give Eternal Kiss of Darkness is to Joyfully Recommend it which, I am.
