Marrick is always looking for the next big thing, the more dangerous or scarier, the better. Getting thrown to the lions is the thrill of a lifetime for him. One night with two lions is all he wants. Blaine and Luther’s relationship changes when they spend the night with the pride’s newest sacrifice. One night with Marrick and they want to claim him as their mate. But Blaine and Luther don’t understand Marrick’s needs and desires and until they do, they can never have him.
Marrick’s Promise is a continuation of the outstanding first story in the Thrown To The Lions series – Ryland’s Sacrifice. While it blends and flows nicely with it, Marrick’s Promise holds its own perfectly. Blaine and Luther are sexy and charming. Their misconceptions about humans cause them to misinterpret many situations with Marrick. They have an innocent yet concrete perception of how things should be between the three of them; they want Marrick, they want to share him, and they want to make him their mate. It’s heartbreaking and difficult for them to understand when Marrick doesn’t see things the same way. A relationship with Blaine and Luther is not what Marrick planned. He likes his freedom, and he feels the need to constantly be exploring and moving to the next best thing. His feelings for Luther and Blaine confuse him. Marrick’s need to be tied up and flogged translates differently with Blaine and Luther. Initially, the cultural and personal differences between the lions and Marrick make it difficult for them to understand Marrick’s desires and give him what he craves. Their eventual meeting of the minds is very sexy and poignant. The change in Marrick’s perceptions is a beautiful evolution both sexually and emotionally. I find that often, I love the first book in a series, but the second doesn’t live up to my expectations. Marrick’s Promise is not that book, and Thrown to the Lions is not that series, and I can’t wait for the next one.
