Nikolai Steele has come to Hagerstown to return a favor owed to a former contact.  Riding into town on his Harley, Nik just wants to find out what is expected of him and get the job done.  He isn’t taking any chances that this might be a set up so his fellow teammates are on standby and at the ready in case he needs them.  When Nik is asked to get to the bottom of why a hometown girl is accusing one of the town’s leaders of murder, he figures he can get in, get the information, and get out of town with no one the wiser.  And then he sees his target – dress designer and shop owner Mikayla Martin.

Mikayla Martin has had a horrendous four weeks.  First she witnesses one of the town’s most important members commit murder.  Then, when she tells her story, no one believes her and the authorities all but pat her on the head like a puppy.  Lastly, she is beginning to feel as if she is being watched and has also become the target of practical jokes.  And those jokes are getting more serious each day.  Mikayla knows what she saw and she knows she isn’t lying.  She figures all she has to do is get to the bottom of the story and find out how the man she grew up around has a surprisingly clear cut alibi when she knows he is guilty.  And then the most gorgeous and dangerous looking man she has ever seen drives into town on the back of a Harley.

Delivering once again, author Lora Leigh has penned Renegade with a completely different tone and I really love how Nikolai Steele seems like a new man to go along with his new code name.  He is sexy as all get out and often snarly.  His feelings for Mikayla mess with his mind because in his heart he feels he isn’t good enough for an innocent like her.  And she is definitely innocent.  But underneath that innocence beats the heart of a seductive siren because with just one kiss Nik Steele is putty in Mikayla’s hands.

Renegade is the fifth Elite Ops book and my new favorite.  Lora Leigh’s writing has a technique that screams passion throughout the pages of each release and Renegade truly unites Nik with a soul mate.  Nik and Mikayla’s love story is bold, brave, and for lack of a better synonym, beautiful.  The love they share is evident in each touch and caress and I Joyfully Recommend this superb love story!
