Mason James was just helping a seemingly lost and fragile old man home when he finds himself surrounded by an eccentric group of people who don’t want him to leave. When he meets Luc Toussaint the attraction is instant and intense making him re-think staying a little longer. Luc is not what he seems, though, and the story he tells Mace is extraordinary. But seeing is believing, and discovering what Luc is brings Mason closer to the truth about himself, too.
The intriguing history of the clan, the reason they want Mason (which unobtrusively creates the potential for sequels), and the pairing of Mason and Luc make Romanus rock. It’s a great story, very detailed, and well written. Mason and Luc have an intrinsic connection that creates a tangible bond between them. It’s intense, romantic, and erotic. Luc is gorgeous and he’s possessive, yet insecure. He’s not dominating or controlling, but he is determined, which makes him endearingly sexy. Mason is charming and compassionate. His open-mindedness, because of experiences with past boyfriends, allows him to accept the extraordinary circumstances he faces. I want more from the world Mary Calmes has created with Romanus. Mason and Luc’s story could easily continue, but Malibu Beach ‘Ken’ and the Abercrombie & Fitch model, Raoul Orane, and Mason’s friend Finn could also fill out many sequel pages.
